Hawk Eye by Jeremy Allen

A drawing of a Red Tail Hawk.

Thumbing through my archives of bird reference photos, this beautiful hawk’s eye seemed to be for me to draw it. Starting with it’s eye, the face, beak and then body, seemed to flow very naturally and comfortably for me. I’ve always loved staring into the eyes of animals..except dangerous ones. They have such an innocent and judge free spirit to them. As if looking in to God’s eyes. As I rendered this piece, I felt as if this hawk was giving me the eye. Watching me draw itself. Hence the title, Hawk Eyed.

This is an original drawing by Jeremy Allen. All pieces are done on acid free, medium-weight (70 lb.) drawing paper and finished with Sanford Prismacolor fixative spray to protect against UV light and smudging.
